I really liked this book。 My main takeaway is ultimately that success with others boils down to truly being a considerate and empathetic person & going out of your way to make other people feel special。 I'll probably reread it with my physical copy since I only listened to the audiobook this time。 I really liked this book。 My main takeaway is ultimately that success with others boils down to truly being a considerate and empathetic person & going out of your way to make other people feel special。 I'll probably reread it with my physical copy since I only listened to the audiobook this time。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Estoy fascinada!

This is not some self help "change your life in a week" kind of book, it's very useful and I've been able to apply many of the concepts discussed immediately and see noticeable improvements in my relatioships and communication。 I'll definitly come back to this book。Ps: I found it more practical to listen to the audiobook in my case。 This is not some self help "change your life in a week" kind of book, it's very useful and I've been able to apply many of the concepts discussed immediately and see noticeable improvements in my relatioships and communication。 I'll definitly come back to this book。Ps: I found it more practical to listen to the audiobook in my case。 。。。more

“How to win friends…” it says in the title。 I agree that you are making others like you in some sense but are they really your friends if you agree with everything and don’t give your opinion? Are they really your friends if you are not your true self and you are only trying to please them?Yeah of course I suppose you should smile, not forget their name, listen, but is not the normal thing to do if you are a decent person?

I wasn't going to write a review because I am bad at them and never know what to say, but after looking at what others said in their review caused me to think of a few things。 I liked the book。 I thought this book was geared more so toward work relationships being as a lot of the stories and examples were bosses trying to get their employee's to work better。 I think when you are dealing with any kind of advice type book, you can not take it or any book like a step by step guide。 I don't care if I wasn't going to write a review because I am bad at them and never know what to say, but after looking at what others said in their review caused me to think of a few things。 I liked the book。 I thought this book was geared more so toward work relationships being as a lot of the stories and examples were bosses trying to get their employee's to work better。 I think when you are dealing with any kind of advice type book, you can not take it or any book like a step by step guide。 I don't care if the book even says "take this book step by step。" When I read a book, especially one that's trying to tell me what to do I take what I want out of it, and trash the rest mentally。 Unfortunately we have a lot of people that are like sheep in this world and are lost。 They dont know how to think for themselves so they look for people to tell them what to do, exactly, step by step。 This book can be used as it applies to your life and as an idea guide, in my opinion that's how advice from others should work。 I thought it was interesting to hear all the people he talk to and research he did for this book。 It had some good principles that could be applied, but it doesn't say a lot of when not to use particular ideas, or which idea to use when。 You kind of have to figure that out yourself。 。。。more

Es muy bueno el libro, los ejemplos son muy ilustrativos y dan a entender fácilmente。 Y ofrece una guía clara para poner en practica lo aprendido。

I overall liked this book but thought it was a little repetitive。 I thought there were good messages about the importance of being friendly to everyone, thinking about what other people want/need when asking for something, and the importance of a smile。 However, when my book was due at the library I didn't bother to place another renewal even though I hadn't finished because I felt like I had gotten the main points of the book。 If there is something super enlightening at the end of the book, I m I overall liked this book but thought it was a little repetitive。 I thought there were good messages about the importance of being friendly to everyone, thinking about what other people want/need when asking for something, and the importance of a smile。 However, when my book was due at the library I didn't bother to place another renewal even though I hadn't finished because I felt like I had gotten the main points of the book。 If there is something super enlightening at the end of the book, I missed it! 。。。more

There are a lot of good points in this book illustrated with real life experiences。 I think that we could all benefit from having more patience, understanding, and tact when dealing with each other。 This is one I'll have to read from time to time to keep on top of it。 There are a lot of good points in this book illustrated with real life experiences。 I think that we could all benefit from having more patience, understanding, and tact when dealing with each other。 This is one I'll have to read from time to time to keep on top of it。 。。。more

Carnegie's book, written 87 years ago, surprisingly remains relevant in today's business and social landscapes。 In essence, Carnegie's advice is centered on making people feel seen, heard, and important。 He stresses the idea of minimizing yourself, becoming a mirror that allows others to shine, and at times, allowing people to use you as a means to your own advantage。 This philosophy of putting others in the spotlight can lead to more friendships and success in business。 Carnegie's insights are Carnegie's book, written 87 years ago, surprisingly remains relevant in today's business and social landscapes。 In essence, Carnegie's advice is centered on making people feel seen, heard, and important。 He stresses the idea of minimizing yourself, becoming a mirror that allows others to shine, and at times, allowing people to use you as a means to your own advantage。 This philosophy of putting others in the spotlight can lead to more friendships and success in business。 Carnegie's insights are valuable for understanding human behavior, but they also tread a fine line between practicality and the risk of losing one's authenticity。 。。。more

oml this book was so slow to read。 The author makes WAY TOO MUCH examples, and each of them is long。 Sometimes you don’t actually know what it is even talking about unless you go to each chapter’s summary。Tbh the book has some good principles (even if most of them are literally “be kind” etc。) and for people that say “its manipulative” the book is literally called “how to influence people” so idk-Would i recommend this book? So boring。 It literally took me a full year to listen to this book。 Most of it is pretty obvious, but good reminder now that I need to suck up to people at work to get what I want 🌝

Dale Carnegie did an excellent job on how to win friends and influence people。 It is a very valuable book for people in the business world and in school。 It can be used to learn how to walk through corporations, how to lead, and how to better learn。 It gives many examples of great leaders like Abraham Lincoln and it also showcases people who exemplify certain human behaviors。 People like "Two Gun Crowley" and other notorious criminals。 The book really digs deep into different human behaviors and Dale Carnegie did an excellent job on how to win friends and influence people。 It is a very valuable book for people in the business world and in school。 It can be used to learn how to walk through corporations, how to lead, and how to better learn。 It gives many examples of great leaders like Abraham Lincoln and it also showcases people who exemplify certain human behaviors。 People like "Two Gun Crowley" and other notorious criminals。 The book really digs deep into different human behaviors and how they translate to corporations。 Also in the book, it speaks on assigning blame and how great leaders such as Lincoln almost never blamed anyone but themselves。 This is one way the book shows how leaders and important people use human behavior to their advantage。 They learn how to behave towards people in a way that makes those people want to work for them。 The book also talks about how human attitude can change how people look at you as a person。 It uses the example of John Farley, a man who helped Roosevelt get elected。 It stated that Farley's attitude towards people and his ability to connect to people was a great tool of his。 The book also gives tips on how to win people over。 It talks about being slow to criticize and quick to appreciate people in order to win them to your side。 This is something that can be used in all settings, whether businesses, schools, or even sports teams。 Most of the book states things that can be universally applied to a person's life。 The book also talks about how making someone feel valued maybe even more than their actual value can have a big impact on the relationship with that person。 And the book gives you ways to effectively criticize someone if absolutely necessary。 It shows how leading a criticizing statement with a softening kind-hearted statement always softens the blow。 It makes the person think a little less about the statement criticizing them and more about the pleasant comment。 Overall this is one of the most useful books I've ever read and I will certainly be using its tips in the future。 。。。more

What really struck me about this book is the principles are timeless。 Ways in befriending and influencing people in the 18 or 1900s have not changed and anyone can learn a thing or two from the examples given here。 The techniques described in the book aren't duplicitous。 We all try to do what the title says, just like everyone else, whether we're admitting it to ourselves or not。 Readers are repeatedly encouraged to develop genuine interest in others, be honest and ethical, and obey the golden r What really struck me about this book is the principles are timeless。 Ways in befriending and influencing people in the 18 or 1900s have not changed and anyone can learn a thing or two from the examples given here。 The techniques described in the book aren't duplicitous。 We all try to do what the title says, just like everyone else, whether we're admitting it to ourselves or not。 Readers are repeatedly encouraged to develop genuine interest in others, be honest and ethical, and obey the golden rule。It's a surprisingly light read and I would highly recommend。 。。。more

I don’t know why this book took me so long to finish。 It was an easy read and I loved it from the start。 It truly is the only “self-help” book I think a person should 100% read。 The fact that it was written during the Great Depression and still stands the test of time is unthinkable to me, but here it is! Every lesson was perfectly balanced between being anecdotal and factual。 I want to reread this every year。
